Jul 1, 2008 - Milestone!! (and recruitment progress)  - author Valkyrja

A lot of catching up to do, yet again. Since March quite a bit has happened. Lots of matches have been played, both in Urban Terror and in Team Fortress 2. So I will update the list as soon as possible.

We’ve also been playing the UrT - Urban Zone CTF League. Last night was the exciting finale for us, as we played Urban Nannies, the biggest other contender for the first position in the league’s third division. We managed to win the match into overtime on Kingdom, although we had already played Riyadh and after winning that first map, we knew that we were the season winners, as we simply had better statistics overall. But completing the season just looks and feels so much better when you win, so we hoped for the best on the second map – Kingdom. Thankfully we did do well into overtime, being 6-6 when the 20 minutes past, we eventually managed to get the flag again and with good planning on TeamSpeak, protect the carrier successfully. So this makes us the division three winners this season, our first Urban Zone season. So we should be moving to the second division for the next one.

This is the first ever division win for Urban TerroristZ in six and a half years, so a milestone to say the least. I want to congratulate our team for their commitment and perseverance, we did it!

So now, on to the recruitment progress. We’ve accepted some new recruits and some have already become full members.

For Urban Terror we currently have Fukushukumquat, an ex-Ann clan and member. He’s from Switzerland and has played UrT for a very long time. His vote for full membership should be any day now, which will very likely be a successful one.

Other members we’ve accepted have been for Team Fortress 2, some have worked out better than others. Our current recruits are vinkuri from Finland, saze from United Kingdom (originally Greece) and muksuluuri, also from Finland. The vote for saze has been postponed as he was in the middle of college exams and vacation planning, but it won’t be long now. The votes for vinkuri and muksu should be reasonably close together. However I have a far better feeling about vinku than musku, as the latter seems to have completely disappeared right after he was recruited – very strange.

Until next time o/

Mar 9, 2008 - Recruiting again!  - author Valkyrja

Yes the time has come to restart recruitment for TF2. A couple of our members have lost match enthusiasm and to prevent our team becoming too small to get a substantial and large enough group of players, we've decided to restart our recruitment.

We'll be looking for mature members, over 21 years old, who can play matches on Tuesday/Thursday and/or Sunday. We won't play all of these nights, as it all depends on our opponents, but we will divide them over these evenings, so we ask you are available some of these nights. We tend to play them at 20h00 GMT / 21h00 CET.

We find it important that you're not just mature, but also speak English reasonably well, as we do use voice (sometimes a little too much for our own good). And that you have played Team Fortress for at least a while and aren't completely new to the game.

If you're interested take a look through the website and specifically the "Recruitment" page. Here you will be able to fill in all the details we'll require before making a decision.

We'll be looking for 2 people.

Feb 22, 2008 - Catching up on the news  - author Valkyrja

Several things have changed since the last bit of news. So lets summarize the news shall we?

We have said goodbye to several of our members, for different reasons.
LunaBorghild, who became a member in our active Battlefield 2 period, has left the clan for personal reasons. Her life started to consist of other things than gaming and she decided to move on.

Another person we've lost is Pyranwolf, a long time Urban Terror player and relatively recent member to the clan, came to realise that when we started to play Team Fortress 2 as our main game, that this was no longer the clan for him. The only game he wants to play is Urban Terror and we could no longer offer him our full attention in it.

Lastly, we have removed DeathCon from our memberslist. Taranis recently spoke to him and DC mentioned that he didn't expect to come back to gaming. Other things have become a priority and so we have decided to remove him from our listing.

There has also been some good news though, r3c0iL, announced as a trial member in early December has since become a full member of the clan. With an admirable 19-0 (yes-no) vote result, it is undeniable that Chris was very welcome.

We have also, finally started to win some Team Fortress 2 matches. Having a very rough start on the Clanbase ladders, we're doing much better on the Enemy Down TF2 8v8 ladders. SO far we're about half/half for wins and losses, which is a good boost to morale.

Well, this is all for now, see you out there.

Jan 5, 2008 - Start the new year with a new look!  - author Valkyrja

Tonight, we are proud to be able to release the new website!!!

This new version has;
- A new look, obviously
- More content, more information
- Improved browser support, Firefox/Opera etc., font issues resolved
- Improved login for users (old database has been used for users, so you can still login with your old account, if you already had one)
- Finally enabled the lost-password option (a whoopsie on the old site)
- Made it possible to give site feedback and report bugs when logged in
- Added a history of the clan and website page
- Added a warresults page with all our (listed) matches, alas some info has been lost over the years, but this is as complete as we'll ever get it
- Added a Gameserver monitor for the TF2 server
- Added a TeamSpeak2 server monitor, currently linked to Ozzy's server
- Added RSS to news posts
- Improved news, we can now browse back, all the way to 2005
- A simple search function, currently only able to search through the news database

In the making;
- Improved calendar use, allowing recurring items and events
- New and improved forum (we will be switching to PHPBB3.0 Gold) and complete new look! (This is a long term project, as PHPBB3.0 is very difficult to change themes for).
- Eventually, once the new forum is finished, new signatures are an option - and likely

Please enjoy and I hope you all love the new look as much as we do!

Greetings,
Your website, forum and clan parents,
Sannie & Karst

Dec 28, 2007 - Welcome Duncan (aka UTZ|Nightfire)  - author Taranis

Dec 24, 2007 - Goodbye, hello and merry x-mas  - author Valkyrja

This is a post of mixed feelings, so let's build up to something merry and start with our bad news.

This week our Urban Terror member and friend Pyranwolf has left us. We wish him happy trails and fun in whatever his gaming future holds. Also, We've cleaned up our memberslist by removing people (non-founders) who have been inactive and silent for over a year. This thankfully is only one player, Exuviae a.k.a Exaequo. Henry was active for a while, but has been inactive for far longer, and so we bid him farewell.

Now on to better news!

Last week GridLock'D accepted full membership. So welcome to the family mate! Also, we started the full membership vote for Nightfire, so it's probably just a matter of time before he becomes our next full member!

Last but not least we wish you all a very merry christmas and a happy new year!
